i tried showing it to some acquaintances but the one i consider the token religious guy (who is not against gay people at all) didn’t really get why i found the video so hilarious. i went through it step by step and thought others might like a good -palmface- giggle.

okok, let me start going through this video to point out the things i giggled/laughed at. let’s see if i get board…
i also realize you might actually take a few of their comments serious where i laugh at them.

the earliest version of the judaho-christian god would have existed around 1200BC when ramses sent the hebrew slaves out of eqypt where they created yaweh in the sinai peninsula. if you want to trace the origin of this then you might go as far back as aten. (excuse me while i google sun disk god since the pharaohs have crazy names)
Amenhotep 4 was upset that the pharaohs were losing their deity status so he declared that Aten was the only one god the egyptions could worship and that he (the pharaoh) would be worshiped by the people as Akhenaten and the royal palace would in turn worship Aten directly. (always makes me laugh about aten ha ra… anyway…) he was trying to weed out the corruption of local priests seeking their own power.
when he died tutankhamon was installed as a figurehead controlled by the priests who reinstated amon-ra as the primary god and got the bureaucracy back on track before he was assassinated… i think ramses was next. historians think that aten was the first crack at a monotheistic god and… speculation: the hebrews probably looked up to the religious purity that ahkenaten was trying to promote… no written language, yada yada yahweh.
rewind to 3000BC… 2,000 years before god was created in egypt and you have egyptions getting married to each other. though they had both religion and a government, marriage was neither religious nor a state contract. 2 people simply made a formal declaration to each other to share a household. move around the world at various times and you will find many forms of marriage. i was simply tracing back to the origin of the current god figure and rewinding to before he existed. no- god is a parasite on the heart of marriage.

-palmface- what?! do i need to point out that in no way was marriage redefined by judges? the judges ruled that the laws regarding marriage were written in a wording that did not exclude same sex couples and combined with the other laws of the states, the same sex marriages could not be denied by the state.
also- what part of the faith requires you to attack and restrict the rights of other people? as i consult my bible, i hear an empty echoing sound.
2:20 i don’t know wtf they are talking about except perhaps the thing in MA where the state cut off state level funding to their private religious organizations if they wanted to deny equal rights to people. if they want to operate a private organization with private religious interests then do it with private money.

hey don, show me a historical timeline that places the hebrew bible as a spoken book 5000 yeas before it was written down. the jews didn’t exist that far back. just because/if the bible claims it was spoken for 5000 years does not mean it was. the hebrews are descendants of canaanites. the polytheist Apereu semites took over egypt just before the new kingdom. when the egyptions kicked the semites back out of their country, a small group of Apereu got stranded, turned into slaves and came to be known as hebrew who in turn developed their monotheistic god sometime after Aten. there was no monotheism among the semites until then.
i will be happy to read a historical account if you have one to share.
just thinking about it off the top of my head, this guy is probably using genesis as the 5000 year point of reference haha

It was funny to start off with, but then the guy really irritated me.
I especially hated the ‘parent’ comment, and how he implied that lack of celebration for Father’s Day is somehow gay people’s fault.
In my primary school we stopped celebrating it because my father and my friend’s father both died, and our classes only had 15-20 children so keeping it would’ve been insensitive for obvious reasons. In secondary school, there just wasn’t any point because we had more important things to do.
Everything else in the video was just as stupid. If they really cared about marriage and not just being bigots, they’d oppose divorces too. But then that would be inconvenient for them.
Actually, you’ve said enough to show you don’t know that much about the Judeo-Christian God to be writing any kind of summation. For example: The Old Testament had been passed down ‘by word of mouth for somewhere between 3000 and 5000 years before the first word was ever even recorded’…that alone would predate the Jewish vision of God a LOT farther than 1200 BC. That is just ‘one’ point… I suggest you do a LOT more studying before you start to ‘preach’ your personal views. Once you know the ‘TRUTH’ you will find MUCH MORE to ‘support’ LGBT marriage in Sacred Scripture than to deny it. What the radical, far right religious zealots are selling isn’t even close to ‘THE WORD OF GOD’…and the different religions which have debased Gods Word with myth, misconceptions, lies and innuendo to ‘win’ their hollow victory are going to have a very high price to pay one day…shame on them.
It’s disgusting that over-zealous right-winged Christian’s go through these great strides to ensure that gay people will never be equal … in effect, they are better than us. It pisses me off to no end that they’ve defined a so-called caste system where my endogamous equivalent group would be “rodent”.
I too found it hilarious but I was taken aback when I heard “battlegrounds” and the imagry of sniping, it protrays the glbt and our allies as not only threats to their belief system but as physical threats. I might be paranoind but it could be sublimital message of “they are the enemy. fight them” idk
