I was wondering if thier was a simple way to start a company that invests in the stock market. like a sole proprietership? Is that legal without getting the SEC involved and just gettting a simple business license to make it all legal? I just want to do it as cheap as possible.
Please dont say to contact a CPA or lawyer, I hope one of you are one of those!
anybody have a clue?

better consult a tax consultant or a charted accountant in practice
This is perfectly legal – but why would you do it? You could incorporate a company, invest your money in the company, and then have the corporate entity purchase shares on any stock market. The company would then have the assets – the stocks and other investments.
The question is why? Or am I completely missing your question. In Canada, where I am from, this would be about the worst way to invest as passive income is taxed differently than other small business income.
Now if you want investors – that is a different situation. If you clarify the question, perhaps I could give you a better answer.
