I think maybe if you make yourself a few really cute scale models of the kind of work you do, say doll’s house size, and display them in your community library or shopping mall with your brochures and business cards that state your give no cost, no obligation quotes, it would help. Make sure you do a super fantastic job on these items and the cards and brochures. People are critical. If you make your marketing tools shabby, they will think this a reflection of your general work standards.

PS Also approach your hardware stores and ask if you may display your items there as people going to those stores sometimes need to do jobs that they would rather not.
