what kind of jobs can I get? one is leaning on the computer side and the other on the accounting side. Seems like two different paths. One (Business Information Systems) require certificates too and the other one require accounting experience. I just can’t see any way to grow on both….seems to me that one have to be put aside once in the job market because I don’t see the point on someone with a job in computers being able to use his/her accounting education….any suggestions? Am I wrong?

I work in Federal Government contracts supporting IT and Financial System upgrades, and when the large Accounting firms and major IT giants bid they will bring a team in headed by a partner and then some team members have CPAs, others have Acctg Info Systems etc where it does NOT hurt one to have both and in fact it makes you more marketable.
My background is Finance & Procurement/Contracts whereas our oldest son was BS Accounting. He started as Cost Accountant then I sent him to IT Transition University Program where he was youngest, others had PhD in ADA. He worked one day for KPMG (what he always wanted) but major IT contractor made him offer couldn’t refuse. I too put CARROT$ in front of him and he passed CPA on 2 tries (3 parts 1st attempt), then they Contractor sent him to ORACLE training and he sat and passed certification to become ORACLE CERTIFIED DEVELOPER, then went to BORDERS and passed SUN JAVA certification on his own <= He claims both are worth more than his CPA and was right bec off to Europe he went and was only 28 leading a team of developers who graduated from Oxford and Cambridge at BARCLAYS INVESTMENT…Today he is self employed JAVA Guru at 31 for French Investment Banker building investment models for on-line traders…Son’s success is actually his determination and perservance and what we were most happy about was he met girl of his dreams!
